About us.
Welcome to South New Brighton School.
Our School Vision is to be a community of quality learners, nurturing our values of CITIZENSHIP, ACHIEVEMENT, RESPONSIBILITY and EFFORT.
Our School Mission Statement is RIDING THE WAVE OF QUALITY LEARNING.
South New Brighton School is uniquely located with the estuary and sea at its doorstep. The school is a U6 (500 - 600 students), decile 5 full primary ie Yr 0-8, with children attending aged from 5 to 13 years. We have a commitment to providing high quality education for children in a caring and supportive environment. We are proud to be a full primary school, as we believe the younger children benefit from having older children in the school to support them and to provide positive role models. The senior pupils benefit by being able to develop leadership skills through programmes offered at the school such as PAL, peer mediation, buddy reading, school patrols, being librarians, radio managers and DJs, etc.
We have been seen as an innovative school and run many programmes, etc. that have drawn visitors to the school. For example our EnviroSchools work, PAL (Physical Activity & Leadership) student programmes, Canine Educators, our Beachbreak Radio Station, Sports Academy, Student Led Conferences, Parent Room, PAC Schooling Improvement Initiative, etc.
The school values the partnership between parents, children and teachers. It is essential that we all work together to provide the best education available and one of the best ways to do this is through open communication. It is important that you contact your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns. At the beginning of the year parents are able to attend a 'Meet The Teacher Evening', to learn about the programmes and expectations for the year. During the year there will be scheduled interviews and reporting times, however if you have any concerns please do not wait but contact the teacher and make an appointment as soon as possible.
At South New Brighton School we have a highly committed, talented and skilled staff of teachers and Support Staff. Parents are welcomed into the School and we are fortunate to have parents available to help in the classrooms as well as a small but active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) who raise funds and provide many resources for the children and a Fair Committee.
South New Brighton has a proud tradition of achievement, and this is made possible by setting high standards for pupils both academically and socially. Our role in education is to ensure pupils are able to meet the challenges of an ever changing world. We have a commitment to literacy and numeracy for all pupils within the school and are members of the Pegasus Achievement Cluster (PAC), which has seven local schools collaboratively working together to improve student achievement in these areas.
We hope the information on this website helps you to know and understand our school, but if there is any further information you require please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
